Stuck at four confirms help request
« on: February 11, 2014, 04:32:11 AM »
OS-W7

client version-NRS0.6.2

latest block#-10748007649707633174

time in UTC- Sunday, February 09, 2014 9:37:18 PM (not sure exactly what you are asking for but that is the time the transaction took place according to the client)

accountID-8657296860115679183

balance in the blockexplorer-0 (don't want to move more into the account until issues resolved)

I created a new account with more secure password moved 5 nxt into account but transaction has never progress beyond four confirmations.
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=17919853077501613479

I was able to send the 5nxt back to the original account:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=8657296860115679183

and it shows 10+ confirms in the client so I can send funds in and out of the account but the confirmation is stuck for both transactions in the blockchain explorer despite the report in the client itself.

I've  uninstalled and reinstall several times, re-installed with latest version, cleared Java cache, deleted block.nxt and transactions.nxt, added good peers and IP to myAddress web.xml, and everything else I could find in the tutorials sections that seemed related to the issue but nothing helped yet so I can't get the 1440 confirms required to forge.

Are there any other actions I can try? I have no problems connected to a lot of peers and see uploads and downloads happening in the peers. The transactions look fine in the client. But in the block section it's not doing anything. There's no message about time to generate next block.

My initial account seems to be functioning normally. Pretty weird. Any ideas?

Tried sending another small amount from my original account to my new one:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=10270240761137020514

Never arrived and is also stuck at four transactions.

all transactions from new  still stuck on four. I don't think it is my client installation because I've had my initial account open all night and it is forging better than it ever has. Generation time is fine for that account.

When I first became interested in NXT I failed to comprehend how just early in development this protocol is. However now that I understand that NXT is much more than just a currency and see how early in development it is I want to be involved even more than before.

Do you think I should just go ahead and create another account with a secure passphrase and see if that one works? Or are there methods beyond what is revealed in the tutorial pages on this forum that might address the issue?

Interesting.

I stopped the client with the gentle stop button described in this forum's tutorials and closed the browser. I then deleted the blocks.nxt and blocks.nxt.bak file as well as the transactions.nxt and transactions.nxt.bak files.

I then restarted the the computer, let it fully boot and all background apps load and started the client and let it sit there for about two hours until it downloaded the files I deleted earlier. Then when I reopen the client in browser window I saw a stack of 248 unconfirmed transactions so i let it sit for about an hour or so and I just now checked it and it's down to 225 transactions so it's confirming them it looks like.

I'm thinking this client is a great piece of technology but full stability is not yet achieved so you have to treat it gentle...like a baby, or it can break the block chain and your confirmations can get stuck.

I've got my fingers crossed. I'm just going to leave it be and see if all 248 unconfirmed transactions are confirmed and if that resolves the issue. If it does I will report here later. I want to learn a lot more about this protocol and client now where I was just interested in the currency aspect of nxt.
