NXT Forging on a Windows Server (VPS)

Hi everyone,

i just wanted to quickly explain how to support the NXT network and gain interest on your coins by forging,
without having to let your computer at home run 24 hours a day.
I was using linux VPS (= Virtual Private Server) earlier but now wanted to have a windows one to do NXT forging and CPU mining at the same time - espcially since i still like to have a gui to manage stuff.
So i found a really cheap Service that accepts bitcoin and only costs 12 dollars per month in bitcoins ( if you use the coupon "NewVPS" you get another 2 usd off from the first month ) - please use the following link: https://dewlance.com/vps

i have just set it up myself and still trying to find out some details
if you have any questions feel free to ask - i will answer them to best i can and maybe add a detailed tutorial lateron

either way you should do the maths and see if it really pays off in the end, so probably its best to test it locally first and to see how much you get before renting a server

Please don't use ref-links (I changed it). By the way, there are cheaper VPS-Hosters out there and I would never ever run my Nxt-wallet on a VPS and you all shouldn't either.

and isnt locking the wallet a good option to have security even on a vps?

Goodnet.com.ua ($9 per month) for example. But there are maybe better and cheaper once. And you can't forge with a locked wallet, am I right?

I'm estimating forging ROI% as 0.18% per month for current activity. If u've to get back $9 per month, u'll need 833.33k NXTs to forge for now. Don't forget dispersion.

All VPS are going to have backdoors fro the admins.
Unlocking your wallet on a VPS is, by definition, not secure with the current NXT setup.
Forge on a rig that only u have physical access to.

That's right. As VPS u can setup hallmarked non-forging node for sharing blockchain, unconf. txs and network metadata.

Forging generally unsafe that way. At least for now, later u'll be able to lease forging power to VPS-node w/o moving coins around.
