I think NXT is the most promising and fantastic crypto coin for a long time, especially since it is new or better in these 6 ways regarding decentralized existence and use:
1) Everybody in the world with internet access can "mint" or rather forge NXT coins to their wallet account just by contributing by being open on the net with their wallet in the background on their computer, - and by not fully stop making transactions also from their own account for a long time - so as to keep their forging going on.
2) The forged amount you earn by the fees offered is not dependent on your computer power, just by the amount of NXT you have in your account and to a degree that you are active in transactions from your account also it seems.
3) You can access your account anywhere in the world on any computer with the software needed if you just remember the password (=private key) for your account number(=public key).
4) Thus the only practical way to lose your wallet value is either to forget your password or if others get access to it.
5) If needed you can at any time make your working account more secure by first making a new account and then transfer all your NXT from the old account to the new - from then on being your working account.
6) When this spread all around the world with redundancy on mainly lots of small computers there is no practical possibility to destroy this financial system by physical means as long as the NXT software and the internet works as is or better.
