Just 3 from the top of my head.

We should strive to get Nxt onto www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com) to show how it stacks up against competing cryptocurrencies.

This is the coinmarketcap thread on bitcointalk - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199685.0

As far as I see the requirements for a listing are to have an "Abe (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Abe (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Abe)) based block explorer" and a means of determining the current Nxt/BTC exchange rate. Would a simple API on dgex.com suffice?

From poster huyha123 recently in coinmarketcap thread:

specify these 2 to be added.

1. block explorer
2. one market where it trade

Yea maybe you / someone can go ahead and inquire what's required, we already have simple market data at http://dgex.com/ticker.cgi and will soon add buy and sell levels API.

Does the NXT block explorer comply with the Abe requirements?

Other parts are progressing nicely, we now have the mods here and there is a DGEX charts bounty on the new bounties section on this forum.

I just realized that coinmarketcap probably wants the blockchain explorer to determine the number of coins in circulation! We will only ever have 1 Billion - so that's taken care of already! Your ticker page might be sufficient. Excellent!

Edit: The current market cap right now (Latest Trade: 1 Nxt = ฿0.00001099, ฿1 = $1073.05) is $11,792,819.5! We'd rank 11th on www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com) right now!

What's the criteria for new currencies to be added to the list?

1. It's a crypto-currency
2. It's traded on an exchange with an API
3. There is a URL somewhere that shows the total supply of coins in real time

Another user set up the reddit page here - http://www.reddit.com/r/nxtcoin (http://www.reddit.com/r/nxtcoin). The name "Nxt" was already taken as a subreddit name too. I have contacted the owner of /r/nxtcoin to see if I can be allowed to be a moderator and I will further develop the page.

I'm waiting on a reply from the creator of coinmarketcap.com, Gliss, to see if we already have everything we need to get set up or if we need to wait for Graviton to develop the dgex.com API further so that Gliss can grab the price of the latest trade to calculate the market capitalization (simply by multiplying it by 1,000,000,000). This might suffice - http://dgex.com/ticker.cgi (http://dgex.com/ticker.cgi).

I had originally contacted him with this a few hours earlier:
Quote
Hi Gliss,

Sorry to bother you like this. I would just like to know if the following URL is sufficient for you to grab the latest traded value of our cryptocurrency NxT - www.dgex.com/ticker.cgi ? To calculate the market cap all you have to do is multiply by 1 billion as this is the total cap on coins and they are all in circulation (and will continue to be in the future). If that URL is insufficient for you, what is it exactly that you are looking for?

Everyone in the NxT community would greatly appreciates your time and effort.

Thank you,
Alias

Go team!

Please tick item number 6 off the list NiftyNikel! :)

The client desperately needs attention given to the bugs it has - I've not been able to send NXT with any version of it and I doubt I'm the only one. Coloured coins and other clever stuff are going to mean nothing if nobody uses the client because it's too buggy to begin with.

Valid concerns.

1. The developers are kicking new versions out almost daily. It's come a long way in just a few days for me personally, however, like you said, it still has a ways to go.

2. Not everyone is a developer. While those guys spend time on the code, there's a list of action items that can be handled in tandem but people with other skills.

What to do? How to do it?

You can take a look at Feathercoin and Peercoin reports when they were at the London Conference as an example. All we need is someone willing to shake some hands and pass out business cards leading people to find out more information about NXT. NiftyNikel provided a link in the main summary page.

I noticed on bitcointalk that Drexme - who has done a great job as a Mod on this forum - started a thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=357403.msg3823315#msg3823315) and is looking to start a NXT giveaway. While distribution of NXT is important to the future of the coin I don't think the traditional cryptocoin giveaway is the right way to go and I thought it might be interesting to have a brainstorming session for the best way to distribute NXT.

Erik Voorhees appeared on the Peter Schiff show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mUn-d8R98k) and subsequently wrote an open letter to Peter Schiff afterwards (http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1rxmk3/my_open_letter_to_peter_schiff_followup_from_the/) and he made a very good point about the infastructure of Bitcoin being the most important aspect of it. The actual code can be repeated and used to create other coins, but it is all the online stores, brick and mortar shops and services that accept bitcoin and the development that is being poured into bitcoin which makes it so valuable and I think NXT should be looking to create infastructure as soon as possible and the distribution of NXT from the stakeholders could be used for this purpose rather than just giving it away.

I actually have 0 NXT at the moment so I have every reason to want a giveaway but I think there are a lot more innovative and effective methods out there to boost the quality of this coin.

I'm not trying to tell the stakeholders what to do with their coins, they started NXT and the coins belong to them to do with as they please but from what I've seen of the organisation and focus of the people behind this coin the stakeholders will be looking to distribute a large portion of the NXT they hold because it is beneficial to them but I think it is important to do it in the most effective way for the improvement of the coin.

Few ideas I had...

- Lots of decent sized bounties for developing NXT software and services e.g. Merchant solutions like Bitpay

- Bounties for non programmers e.g. creating videos, signing up Merchants to the service above

- Buy some NXT, tip 10 people on Reddit 10 NXT and get 500 NXT

Yeah, those ideas are pretty good. I thought buying NXT's for $140, sold all of my IFC's at eBay to get that money... And theeen... Bam, "PayPal Pending Funds"... Buyer left me a positive feedback and everything, but funds are still in pending mode and will be there until Christmas. I was thinking to do something like what is your 3'rd idea... Unluckily, thanks to PayPal...

That is real unlucky. Perhaps you could get some if any of these get off the ground.

To build on #3 it could even involve tipping people on reddit who aren't from crypto and bitcoin subreddits to try and get something going with a different market. But pick the subreddits wisely, /r/technology and /r/books could be 2 good ones. Tip them 10 NXT and post a link explaining what NXT is and how to obtain their NXT.

I agree, not ready yet. Being on coinmarketcap.com at this point is probably less than advantageous. People have most likely seen it, and then went on a hunt for info only to find a very disjointed market. Only convenient way to get nxt is through dgex, which looks like 80's banking software. I think a visually appealing website to link it all together could help. Just some simple wordpress slap together with a nice logo and links to all pertinent info would be nice.

I do like the video, and it should be front and center somewhere. I'm just saying that when you hit nextcoin.org all you are presented with is a link to the forum section. You are then left to hunt for info on your own. There is no direction. If you look at peercoin they have everything you need to know in 30 seconds, and it is all right there. You can watch their video, download their client, find links to social media, and see exchanges where you can purchase them all right there. It is a very complete presentation, and one I think nxt is lacking. Besides, I read somewhere that this is not even the official site but I could be wrong on that.
