Lower trades than lowest buy order
« on: January 20, 2014, 11:44:57 AM »
Guys,

pardon if this has been asked before and answered.

How come I see trades happening in the small trade window that are WAY lower than the lowest buy order?
This should not be possible.

A few minutes ago: lowest buy order 6500, I see a trade happening of 6300 - 6250  ???

There's probably a delay about 1 minute. You see trades that happened a while ago.

its possible. You can "quick sell" lower than the lowest buy order and you can "quick buy" higher than the lowest sell price. P

Even when it's delayed, than still: why would someone sell something for less than is possible, other than to influence the market?

This is why I hate this form of quick sell.
I think it should be implemented as follows:

- highest buy order is 6500
- Quick Sell at 6200
- All orders UP TO 6200 are sold first till the order is filled. (User gets a warning of course).

That's how all other exchanges work.

This type of quick buy/sell option makes it ridiculously easy to manipulate the market price.
I put in a buy order that is 300 below the highest buy order and than sell to myself (other account). There is no way that sane people would buy my lower order.  ;)

This "Quick buy" is not ridiculous... it is frightening

eg. when buying 1000 NXT with price 0.0000882,
the exchange system guides to press Quick buy for this:

"NXT            Unit Price
250000.00    0.00008820           Quick Buy"

That gives an impression that when pressing Quick Buy, you will buy 250000 NXTs :-)

I don't understand that Quick Buy ... maybe somewhere exist the explanation for that, but I don't want to find it.
I've used many exchange systems dealing with stock markets and ofc there are also sometimes problems in the usability. They have been solved - usually the customer is right.

I like this quick buy/sell feature. Use it all the time for both buying and selling. It totally works for me.

It also helps to keep the price stable. Say there are 15 small buy orders from 0.000086 to 0.000089 and 1 large for 0.0000855. In this case big seller will use quick sell option insted of crushing the price to 0.0000855.
