Can't access my wallet with my saved secret phrase

i upgraded client to 0.7.4, entering my secret phrase and getting to a different wallet. i haven't changed the secret phrase for sure, and checked in notepad that I copy exactly what I need, but I get to a different wallet. have something changed recently? What do I need to do in order to get to my wallet?

Do not save your pass phrase in notepad. It is possible that words were capitalized, or extra spaces were added. Check that.

i was storing the pass in a google doc, and was able to access to my wallet many times. then i didn't access for couple of months, updated the client since then probably couple of times, and wanted to check if i can access the wallet, but no luck, i am getting to a different empty wallet.

tried to copy and paste partially password code both ways, and never was able to access the wallet.

my password is using UTF-8 characters, may be that's the reason. anybody can comment what have changed since december with this part?

I can also imagine that something was added at the beginning or at the end of the pass phrase.

Is there a way I can programmatically take my string and add different characters at the beginning or/and at the end of my pass phrase, and check if I can get the right wallet id?

i remember they promised they will open source in january the software behind the coin, did they open source it?

update:

i found old next clients on my computer, tried running 4.4 and 4.7, and they both sent me to a wrong id... so, i looks like this issue is not related to the updated client :-/

Nxt accepts UTF-8 characters in the password, and that has not changed since december. Chances are you first unlocked your account accidentally appending either spaces or line feeds to your password string.

You could try to open your google doc with a plain text editor and try to include the nearby 1-2 characters from both ends of the string visible in the doc. And once you figure it out, please use safer storage.

The source code for version 0.4.7e was released in January 3rd as announced. The full source code release including these months developments is scheduled for release in april.

@VanBreuk thanks for confirming that UTF8 is accepted fine.

I tried adding spaces and line feeds to my secret phrase, no luck. Btw, adding line feeds doesn't change wallet id, so, looks like some of characters get erased.

I played with many characters from both ends of the string, spent may be an hour with all sorts of combinations, still no luck

Could you please send a link to the source code, I would love to check this part of the code, and see how string gets converted to wallet id.

@high110 ok, so I am not alone with this problem, then this is something more systematic, but let's see if we get more people with loosing access to their wallet and looks like we have lost our money forever. No one will be able to help us here ;(
