I think a portion of the unclaimed Nxt should be donated to the foundation so that it would have a source of funding to participate in Conferences & PR in support of the NXT Project.

Even if it is decentralized...Nxt will need someone or an organization to speak on its behalf in a professional manner to the public ie. testify in the US Congress etc..

NOTE: IT MUST BE CLEAR THAT THE FOUNDATION SERVE'S AS JUST A MOUTHPIECE/MEDIA WINDOW AND HAS NO CONTROL WHAT SO EVER OVER THE NXT PROJECT.

+
anyway is there unclaimed Nxt? or it depends if the founders will be able to spent something for it?

while there is some unclaimed nxt, its dispersion will be eclusively at BCNext's discretion, and will most likely have nothing to do with the foundation, except for maybe to reimburse the foundation's members for their out of pocket expenses for hosting/dns/wiki/etc.  And its a huge IF to begin with.

The foundation we are forming really has not much at all to do with BCN or his devs.  At this point anyway.  It guess that could change but I dont see any necessary reason for it to at this point.  But that could change, if a good idea is pushed forwards

I think the one of the most important to Nxt network over the long term is the lead developer position and also core developers team. While Cfb said he is going to leave the network for good at some point, is that the same position BCnext takes ? And assuming he will leave for good as Satoshi. Who is going to be Gavin of Nxt network ?

I feel like to make Nxt a sustainable network, we may need to constantly update the infrastructure and also guard against unexpected attacks to the network. I just feel like BCnext may want to stick around his brainchild in some ways. NXT is not just a currency as Bitcoin. With Bitcoin Satoshi can leave after all the foundational works are done. Bitcoin can still grow in this way because it is just a coin. it is not the same with NXT which is a more complicated network in which peers can interact, buy/ sell aliases, set up virtual shops etc. There are just so many things that I doubt we will have a perfect system in April.

Another point is that before the source code is completely opened. It is in the best interest of NXt to expand the user base as fast as possible so that the network can achieve a critical mass. Only in that way it could handle the competition from direct clones and not fade into the pool of oblivion of under-achieved products.

Times has changed. Nxt is not just a coin and should not be handled just like a coin. It is a network that would need some type of constant care to be able to succeed, at least in 1-2 beginning years.

So here it is were all the money is.

no wonder poor people can buy some next it sits all here in this tread "the foundation"

nono not with my money.

no wide addoption, no next, so hold on and next will commit suicide.

the poorest amatueristic management I have ever seen.

to bad for CfB and BCn this had potential but it is over, greed killed it.

I'm not leaving for good, I'll be working on project Kharon which is a part of Nxt.
BCNext hasn't shared all his ideas, so I wouldn't worry about direct clones ran by copycats. At block 525960 the Shrinking is planned, I doubt clones r able to handle this successfully.
Jean-Luc has joined Nxt core team as the leading developer. We don't need to search for "Gavin" anymore.

Im not management.  Not even one of the original stakeholders. just someone who stepped up to do a job no one else did.  youre more than welcome to contribute, ifyou have something you can offer.  Or you can just keep your butthurt. Your choice

ETA: im also not a dev.  BTW, the NXT Foundation has no real connection to BCNext or any of his dev team.
