2Kool4Skwel has postulated the concept of a 'NXTfoundation'.  I think this is a fantastic idea and would like someone (possibly him) who has the time for this demanding task to arrange the initial functions of the foundation and to direct what I belive should be its first task.  I would like to present my idea of a method of decentralizing control of the face of information of NXT to the world while at the same time presenting a single face to the world.  My proposal:

1) A director for the foundation to provide organizaion.  If possible, a certified PMP type person would be a huge plus here.  This person would need to understand all of the following:

2) A person to manage the domain name nxtcrypto.org and to administer DNS records for wiki/website/forums/etc.  I have already arranged this thanks to payment by 2Kool4Swewl, the domain is ours and unless we can get hold of nxt.org in short order, I expect it to be permanent.

3) A person to arrange and control web hosting for the website and wiki,

4) A person to lead a dev team for implementing the website, and maintain it moving forward.  For the interim it looks like 2Kool4Skewl is once again stepping up to do a temp page to be ready for the press release.  WE REALLY COULD USE SOMEONE FOR #3 TO STEP UP AND PROVIDE HOSTING FOR THE PRELIM WEBSITE.  PLEASE SOMEONE!

5) A person to lead a team to implement/translate the wiki hosted on the same services the website is on.

6) A person to admin the forums.  I believe we have this covered, assuming Gravitron is still on board.

Obviously the 6 people here MUST REALIZE that this will take lots of time, and to not commit unless they are 100% damn sure they can deliver.  We should make is clear on the website via a very noticeable link to a page describing the foundation that NXT isnt being controlled centrally, and to describe the information decentraliztion I have just given.  Also, the color scheme, logos, tagline/motto, etc should all match.

Ideas, suggestions?  GO!

This is a great idea, but some big stakeholders have to offer up payment for these services.
Its' beyond ridiculous that anyone with less than 1.5-3million NXTs should do fullhours work 7 days a week for free, it will simply never pay off for them.

Does product related tasks fit into the foundation model? Things like release management, packaging, testing, issue tracking/resolution, documentation, support, etc.

As I understand it BCNxt pays C-F-B to do dev on the server and web client. C-F-B does massive engagement across multiple boards and threads. He's awesome, but even he will have limits!

Maybe this more of a concern in Jan?

send 3000 nxt to sponsor a node for 3 months!

would say not I think we would be able to further the decentralized things.  the rush right now is for the upcoming press release and also for the launch in early January

I can arrange and control web hosting for website and wiki.  Would this involve consistent updates to website/wiki, or just arranging for the site to be up and running?

you dont haveto be a webdev. some other webdev can do that after you set up hosting and give them credentials to the site.
a company called it itch accepts btc for payment for web hosting.

get with 2kool4skewl, he may have just sucked it up and paid for that already as well, just to get things moving on.  but additional parties involved is great for the decentralization.

some dev will need to volunteer for wiki duty though...

Thanks.  It would just involve making sure the site was up and running.

http://www.nxtcrypto.com

This is the site I put up over the weekend. I guess since my name is on a spreadsheet next to web development - and I've been posting links to it all over the place, I put some real time into it. If you have another site going and intend to use, please let me know so I can put my energy elsewhere. Otherwise, you're welcome to use this. It's on my server. Website development is part of my business and I'm familiar with all things needed to keep this going or transfer it out. Just, please, let me know. Thanks!

EDIT: Apologies for posting here when I don't qualify. Just got excited to answer about the website.

Very nice.  Ill stay out of the creative design part of it but I think we're well on the way now! PM me with all the host records you need and Ill get it set up for nxtcrypto.org if you dont mind changing your site to resent that?  However it looks these forums owner does not want to change over to the proposed nxtcrypto.org though.  Pity, I think most would prefer to do so but he just doesnt like my idea of decentralized DNS control, or giving up the 'nextcoin' name that is incorrect on both of its terms per the developer.

I think a portion of the unclaimed Nxt should be donated to the foundation so that it would have a source of funding to participate in Conferences & PR in support of the NXT Project.

Even if it is decentralized...Nxt will need someone or an organization to speak on its behalf in a professional manner to the public ie. testify in the US Congress etc..

NOTE: IT MUST BE CLEAR THAT THE FOUNDATION SERVE'S AS JUST A MOUTHPIECE/MEDIA WINDOW AND HAS NO CONTROL WHAT SO EVER OVER THE NXT PROJECT.

I've got money for me and my team till the beginning of April. After that date all source codes (including Asset Exchange, Messaging, DNS, etc.) r planned to be published. I'll be answering questions what different pieces of code do for 1-2 months and then I'll quit the position of a core dev. So I advice the foundation to subsidy work of other developers (mainly client soft). Don't worry about me, guys. :)

Should we tackle the DNS issue after the domain is agreed upon? While nxtcoin might not be the best, the word 'crypto' could be a poor marketing move for many reasons. Happy to add more about that later, but need to get to work now.
