Someone just bought 1500 nxt at    0.00004000 BTC ea which equates to 0.044 BTC total. Thats about 35$

Yeah, they need to figure this out, seems like a new client version release every couple hours.  If security isn't stable, everyone will jump ship.

If I'm not mistaken, the Official Launch of the coin is the first week of January, so in the meantime, this is a great opportunity to get your hands on whatever portion you can afford or feel willing to risk. The client is still beta, but if you view the forum posts, the dev(s) have been very prompt in fixing issues, but still has a ways to go. For me, it was worth the risk, so I bought some coins and will be patient and see where it stands in a couple of months. My hopes are high though

Agreed, it will take a while for others to see a decent profit.  Those genesis block investors have about 50M each.

I think you will be surprised at how quickly the price for Nxt can increase in the time leading up to the more official launch of Nxt in early 2014. If people involved with cryptocurrencies in general have learned anything it is that you want to be an incredibly early adopter when it comes to speculation and investment.

Knowing what you know now about Bitcoin for example, would you have invested during the first days, weeks and months after the network launched? When 1 Bitcoin was worth less than 1 cent?

Agreed, but there will never be another opportunity like BTC.  Nxt is great, but there is also eMu as a competitor with some very strong functionality.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Nxt success and hold a significant amount of Nxt at the moment.

While there may not be another opportunity like BTC in terms of being an early adopter who held their stash of coins for a long time to accumulate wealth, the speed with which Nxt's value can ramp up could be orders of magnitude quicker than Bitcoin. There is a general tolerance towards cryptocurrencies these days. Nxt is effectively "standing on the shoulders of giants".

Also, compared to Bitcoin Nxt will be more valuable in a standalone capacity - i.e. you will be able to harness more power and functionality with the Nxt protocol more easily than you can with the Bitcoin protocol. I.e. if Bitcoin and Nxt ever reach parity in terms of price - the Nxt coins will be inherently more valuable with what you can do with them (especially when you factor in transaction fees, wasted electricity, etc.).

The competition between eMu and Nxt will be fierce. The winner will have the more dynamic and flexible development process/team(s) and the more passionate wider community. Open-sourcing of the source code will be a huge milestone for both projects.

I feel that Nxt still has a lot of room to grow. Especially when you consider some alt coins have a much higher price than Nxt does currently.

I may not have been a genesis block owner, but I was able to get in early when the price was still 1M Nxt = 1 BTC.
